Learning English Through Social Media (GUEST POST_By Jalani Piyumika)
Learning English Through Social Media
Today, almost everyone uses social media Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube. But did you know that these platforms can also help you learn English? That’s how I started improving my language skills.
I realized that English is everywhere online, and if we use it wisely, it becomes a great learning tool.
When I scroll through my social media, I follow English-learning pages, motivational accounts, and travel vloggers. They use simple and real-life English that helps me understand how people speak naturally.
I also watch short English videos with subtitles to learn pronunciation and sentence patterns. Sometimes, I write comments in English or reply to international posts it’s a fun way to practice writing!
Social media has also introduced me to different cultures. For example, I watch cooking videos from other countries, and through them, I learn new food words and traditions.
I even joined an online English-speaking group where people from all over the world chat in English. It helps me gain confidence and make new friends.
Of course, it’s important to use social media carefully and avoid spending too much time. But if we use it for learning, it becomes a useful classroom without walls. I have learned many new expressions, idioms, and slang words from posts and captions. English is no longer just a subject it’s a part of my daily online life.
Social media connects people from every culture and country through English. It helps us share ideas, traditions, and creativity across the world, showing how English is truly a global communication tool.
